Messe Op. 165 for two equal voices and organ

In the
current edition of the Messe ŕ deux
voix égales et Orgue op.165 [1939] for
two-part female voices and organ accompaniment by Gretschaninov, a
supplementary male voice part was added by the editors in the
composer’s own style. The original female voice parts and the organ
parts were unaltered. This change allows this composition to enter
into the repertoire of mixed choirs [SAM]. The preservation of the
original female vocal parts and organ accompaniment then allows
performance of the original version of this score simply by omitting
the men’s part. The availability of both versions thus allow
performance opportunities in both a liturgical and a recital setting.
